The Extreme Group’s Services Make Top Ten List

Corbin Ball and David Nour recently presented their Top Ten Technology Trends Facing Meeting Planners for 2010.  The Extreme Group is proud to have both of our two major service offerings included in the list; mobile platforms and audience response systems.

While everyone reading this knows that we offer audience response systems, some of you may not know about our mobile platforms, called Total Interactive Events.   Our mobile offerings are like no others available in the industry, and it works with over 99% of phones that are sold today.   No creating expensive apps, no compatibility issues for your attendees and no extra equipment rental or purchases necessary.   Below we will go into more detail about what you can do with our Total Interactive Events.

One of the questions that we get from clients when they call in is, “what’s new in audience response?”   Of course we are always developing new game shows based on the latest television game shows, but there is more.   This past year we also unveiled our latest keypads.   We now have a keypad for whatever your needs.   If you need the most reliable keypads on the market, we have those, there is never a guess whether your vote was counted or whether it was accurate, a digital display lets you know.  If you need a light-weight keypad that attendees can carry around for a weeklong meeting, we have those as well.  Rest assured we always have the most advanced software available, we continue to use several different packages to ensure that we can match your exact needs.

While we continue to remain on the cutting edge of audience response technology, our Total Interactive Events offerings are far ahead of anyone else in our industry.   Time does not permit me to go into detail on all of the features that we can now offer you, but here are some of the highlights:

1.       Digital Signage – Have you ever had to move a dinner from outside to inside because of weather?    How did you let your attendees know?    Now you can send a message to all of their cell phones instantly and update them about schedule changes up to the minute.

2.       Emergency Communication – Do you have a plan for when the unthinkable happens?    If you have attendees on the golf course and inclement weather is moving toward them, can you let them know?   How about your attendees are spread out all over town  and there is some kind of emergency situation at the hotel, how do you let them know about a different place to rendezvous?   We were recently able to get word out to several thousand campers spread out over 115 acres that thunder storms were moving in between 4-6AM.

3.       Text to screen – While showcasing our text your question or comment to screen technology, a planner came up and told us her horror story about having a live Twitter feed on the screen.   You can imagine her embarrassment when the attendees mocked the speaker and he wanted to know why everyone was laughing.    That is why our text to screen service is completely monitored; you won’t have to face that humiliated speaker, heaven forbid it be the CEO.

4.       Text to presenter – Sometimes you want the presenter to see the questions and not the audience.  We can provide that to you as well.    In a recent meeting, a Executive Vice President was reading the questions to the CEO, even though the CEO could see the screen.   When the EVP skipped over a question, the CEO addressed it, “I’m not going to skip over that question about the 401K plan.”   The audience appreciated his honesty.

5.       Voting – You can use cell phones to vote, however this is a very specific use.   Please don’t think that you will get the same results voting over cell phones that you enjoy by using dedicated audience response technology.   The results come in much slower and the dropout rate is much higher.     However, there are times where you don’t need perfect voting, you just want a feel for the audience’s opinion and that is a great opportunity to use text voting.

6.       Follow up after the meeting – Our system allows you to follow up with attendees post event.   You can send them links to post event surveys, links for more information, and even marketing info for next year’s event.

At The Extreme Group, we were thrilled to hear Corbin and David say that two of our service offerings are among the top 10 for meeting planners in 2010.   However, you don’t have to wait until 2010, we are still booking dates for the remainder of 2009.

If you have any questions about either our audience response systems or our Total Interactive Events, please give us a call at 813-964-8844.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  Oh and if you haven’t seen our all of our “Just to Make you Smile” videos be sure to check those out here, and then click on Extreme TV.

Is Texting Really Popular in Meetings?

Filed under: Total Interactive Events, text to screen, text messaging service — Interactive Audience Polling Pro @ 1:48 pm

We all knew that text messaging would appeal to the younger audiences at the summer music festivals.  And it did, so much so that when the boards came down the audience booed.   The question from some meeting planners we met this summer was, "How will this play out with our older attendees?"  The answer: amazing!!!

We have seen audience’s where the average age was in the 50’s embracing this technology.    One of the biggest benefits is that it allows attendees to give comments or ask questions without interrupting the flow of the meeting.    One presenter noted, "it really forces the questions to be short and stay on topic.  I love that."

Granted, we have not seen the audience boo in a corporate meeting when the boards have come down, but we do often see people text in messages like "put the text board back up."

Cornerstone Festival enjoys Text to Projection Screen

Filed under: Total Interactive Events, text to screen, text messaging service, emergency communication system — Interactive Audience Polling Pro @ 1:34 pm

The famed Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, IL enjoyed utilizing The Extreme Group’s text to projection screen throughout this year’s festival.    Each evening on the mainstage, in between performances by bands such as Family Force 5, Brain "Head" Welch formerly of Korn, Me Without You, Anberlin and Underoath; audience members were able to send in comments to the projection screen.    The comments ranged from casual observations to promotion of performances throught the day and marraige proposals.

"While thousands of comments came in, our moderators made sure that no offensive messages made it to the screen," said John Collins, President of The Extreme Group.

"Cornerstone is notorious for having terrible cell phone signal. So this year we wanted to test it and see if this is an avenue that we could take advantage of next year as a profit center," said John Thompson of Gyroscope Media.   Next year, attendees can look forward to more texting to screen, as well as interactive quizzes, special announcements, and emergency communication.

This creates an incredible sense of community before we even go on stage

Brett Harris, top selling author of Do Hard Things, expressed his delight with The Extreme Group’s Total Interactive Events’ live texting service, "This creates an incredible sense of community before we even go on stage.  It’s like we know our audience before the event begins."  At the Do Hard Things live conference in Louisville, the audience was allowed to send in text messages to the projection screen before the event started and between sessions.  As the audience sent in over 300 messages before the conference began, twin brothers Alex and Brett Harris stood in the wings of the auditorium and read the incoming messages.   Alex Harris send a text message to the projection screen "I think the audience really enjoyed it when we responded to specific messages that they sent in," said Alex Harris.

Not only did we provide text to projection screen, we also provided audience polling using traditional audience response keypads and audience voting using text messaging.  "This adds so much to our conference," said Brett Harris, "we are fortunate to be able to offer our attendees the latest in  technology, thanks to The Extreme Group."

There are several dates left on this year’s Do Hard Things live conference tour, if you want to see The Extreme Group in action at one of these events let us know, we would love to have you come as our guest.

“Way beyond what we imagined” - Sounds like another satisfied client

Live texting screen provided by The Extreme Group at Ichthus Festival

"The impact of having texting at the festival went way beyond what we had imagined. The ability to do interactive texting with the audience created a whole new connection point with our audience.  Our initial thought behind having texting capabilities was for emergency communications and important updates for our patrons.  We did need to use the services for emergency communications and each time we were able to notify our patrons with severe weather alerts via the texting.  As a result of our experience this year with the texting, we have already started the planning for greater communications possibilities next year." - Doug Baker, Operations Director, Ichthus Festival

What do you do when you need volunteers?

Filed under: Total Interactive Events, text messaging service, Uncategorized — Interactive Audience Polling Pro @ 8:36 pm

“Can you find volunteers to help this evening?” asked Doug Baker, Director of Operations for Ichthus Music Festival.  “We are short of volunteers and I thought if we sent out a text message to our subscribers we might find some people willing to help out.”  After a few minutes of discussion, John Collins, President of The Extreme Group, came up with a workable message. “That’s perfect, let’s send it out,” said Baker.

In a matter of minutes a text message reached several thousand guests and let them know of the need.

Response Rates are Extremely High for Mobile Advertising

Filed under: Total Interactive Events, text messaging service, Audience Response — Interactive Audience Polling Pro @ 10:51 pm

Throughout the three-day event, texting subscribers at Ichthus Music Festival received private notices about schedule changes, weather updates, ads from sponsors, and updates on bands that were available to sign autographs.  Now on the last day, these subscribers were going to receive a “special merchandising offer” that would be available to them only.

Together with the Ichthus Festival Administrators, our team developed the idea to give them $5 dollars off any remaining item at the Ichthus Merchandise Table.  They would be required to show the discount code on their cell phone for verification.

“Quite honestly, we were curious to see what effect our text messaging service would have, and the results were most impressive,” said John Collins, President of The Extreme Group.  “The merchandise table was flooded with guests holding their cell phones open to show their discount code.”

The Extreme Group's text message marketing proves to be highly successful

“It helped us to move a significant amount of T-shirts, hats and other products, and gave our subscribers a special offer just for them.  It was definitely a win/win situation,” said Jon T., a merchandiser for the festival.

Marketing is just one of the powerful features our Total Interactive Events system can provide to meeting and event planners.  Whether it’s sponsored ads, or product discounts, text message subscribers can now receive marketing text messages before, during and after your meetings and events.
